Jabbas @ Kelly’s

JABBA THE Hut was a nasty piece of work, the galaxy’s leading criminal, he had a score to settle with Hans Solo, and inspired the name of an Irish indie/electro/pop act.

The band are Jabbas (vocals, guitar, synths ), Mick Foley (drums, percussion ), Mani (bass, vocals, guitar ), Karen Clark (vocals ). Their influences include Beck, Cut Chemist and Animal Collective to New Order, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Talking Heads.

Jabbas released their debut album Upside To The Downside, this summer. Its fusion of electro-pop with a gritty urban sound saw Drop-D online music journal declare: “If you’re in the mood for something new and immaculately put together then Upside To The Downside is a must. An intricately formed album that keeps you interested from the get go.”

Jabbas play Substance in Kelly’s, Bridge Street, on Saturday at 8pm. See www.myspace.com/jabbasjay
