Calling all cowboys

If you have ever dreamt of living and working like a cowboy now is your chance, while at the same time supporting the fight against heart disease

Heart charity Croí is looking for cowboys and cowgirls to participate in its annual week-long Cowboy Challenge at a real working cattle ranch in Denver, Colorado.

Following on from the phenomenally successful Cowboy Challenge in aid of Croí at the Colorado Cattle Ranch last month, places are now being offered for another experience of a lifetime. Croí is offering two dates in 2010, May 1 to 9 and September 19 to 25. A spokesperson for the charity says: “This is a great opportunity to live and work like a real cowboy at a working ranch in Denver”.

“You will be instructed by professional cowboys – guys and gals who make their living riding a horse and working cattle. Don’t expect a leisurely holiday, you will be up at the crack of dawn feeding the horses and preparing for the day, which could include day-long cattle drives, roping steers from horseback or mending fences, but at the end of an immensely satisfying day you can look forward to a good meal, a cold beer and a chance to exchange stories with your fellow cowboys and cowgals.”

All funds raised will support Croí’s heart disease prevention programme identifying young people at risk of heart disease, and teaching them how to reduce their risk and live a longer, healthier, life.

Places on the challenge are limited, and are available on a first come first served basis. Telephone Sarah-Jane on 091-544331, email [email protected] or visit www.croi.ie for further details on the Croí Cowboy Charity Challenge.
