Alexander Technique workshop to take place in Galway

A one day course in the Alexander Technique, aimed at musicians and actors, will be given in Galway by Richard Brennan, in the Alexander Technique Centre, Kirkullen Lodge, Tooreeny, Moycullen on Friday October 16.

The Alexander technique is an alternative medicine and educational discipline focusing on bodily coordination. It is applied for purposes of recovering freedom of movement in the mastery of performing arts, and for general self-improvement affecting poise, impulse control, and attention.

The course in Kirkullen Lodge will run from 11am to 4.30pm and is aimed at performers who are in pain or discomfort while performing, or just would like to be more relaxed or confident while playing. An Alexander Technique workshop will also be given in NUI, Galway from November 7 and 14 from 10am to 4pm. The cost is €150. To book contact 091 - 492062.

Richard Brennan is a qualified Alexander Technique teacher and has taught the technique at NUIG, University of Limerick, Middlesex University, and Dartington College of Arts. He is the author of four books on the subject and is a founding member and past chair of the Irish Society of Alexander Technique Teachers.
