Cuddy calls for submissions to be made on Cashla power plant application

Independent Oranmore Councillor Jim Cuddy is advising residents in the Cashla area that further submissions can be made until October 5 on the application for a gas power planet in the area.

Constant Energy Ltd applied to the Galway County Council for a gas power planet at Barretspark. The company recently replied to a request for further information from the county council and so further submissions can be made.

According to Cllr Cuddy, residents in the Lisheenkyle and Cashla area feel their views have not been taken seriously by the county council.

“This point was very forcefully made at a public meeting in Lisheenkyle school on Monday night,” he said. “The consensus of the meeting is that the questions being asked of Constant Energy Ltd did not address the serious concerns of local people.”

Arising from Monday’s meeting, Independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish arranged a meeting for local representatives with senior county council officials to seek clarification on some of the issues.

The deadline for further submissions to this planning application is Monday October 5 at 4pm. A decision is due on the application on October 25.
