FLAMENCO DANCER Fatima Lucia will begin a new term of flamenco dance classes on Tuesday in Árus na nGael, 45 Dominick Street, from 7pm to 10pm.
Flamenco is an old tradition from the south of Spain which fused forms of Islamic, Jewish, Gipsy, and Iberian forms of dance and music - during a time when diverse groups lived in a state of toleration and co-operation in Muslim Spain.
Fatima says flamenco is a “complete exercise and a great way to get fit and stay fit. It uses every part of the body and improves posture, balance, coordination, concentration, and sense of rhythm. It becomes a tool of self expression for the enjoyment and healing of both body and soul.”
Fatima has been teaching flamenco since 1993 and has successfully toured Ireland with her own company Al-Andar in several occasions. For information on contact 087 - 960436.
