An Oranmore man who pleaded guilty to speeding was given a €250 fine in Claremorris District Court this week.
Garda Hugh O’Donnell told the court that he detected Robert Walsh, Coiste na Mara, Oranmore, Co Galway March 22 2009 travelling at 147km per hour in a 100km per hour zone at Lisduff, Claremorris at 9.25pm.
He stopped Walsh and issued him a fixed penalty notice which was not paid. Walsh told the court that he never received the fine in the post and if he had, he would have paid the fine. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Walsh €250.
