People can enjoy a family fun day in the city later this month and help raise vital funds for a major renovation project being spearheaded by the Poor Clare Sisters at their monastery at Nuns’ Island.
The event will take place at the Galway Greyhound Stadium on Sunday September 27. Admission, which is €20 for a family, will include children’s entertainment, face painting, a bouncy castle, live music by the Galway Bay Jazz band and a full racing schedule. Gates open at 1pm with racing from 3pm to 5pm followed by a children’s disco.
Tickets are available from the Poor Clares, Nuns’ Island, the Abbey Church, Jaycee Printers, Des Kavanagh Electrical, Peter Murphy Electrical, Tom Dempsey Interiors and McLoughlin’s Pharmacy at the Corrib Shopping Centre.
The fun day follows the sell-out cabaret fundraiser held recently at the Salthill Hotel.
Poor Clare Abbess Sr Colette said that she was delighted with the great response to the event.
“We have a wonderful fundraising committee who went to great trouble to ensure that it would be an enjoyable night for all. We are so grateful to all the artists who gave their services free and the Salthill Hotel who provided the venue.”
