Knock is flying

August 28 proved the busiest day in the history of Ireland West Airport Knock.

More than 5,300 passengers used the aiport on that Friday, contributing to the busiest August in three years.

According to figures released by the airport, more than 81,000 passengers flew in or out of Knock last month, reflecting the steady growth in numbers during the last two years. Since 2007 the airport has witnessed a 13 per cent increase in passengers.

The airport’s managing director, Joe Gilmore, said: “Ireland West Knock is delighted to announce that August 2009 was our busiest month in three years and the second busiest month ever in the history of the airport.

“With so much economic uncertainty it was refreshing to see our new terminal full of thousands of people choosing Ireland West Airport Knock as their preferred Airport of choice to travel through.”
