A benefit gig to support a building project in Haiti will take place on Saturday (September 5 ) in Galway.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Northern Hemisphere with a population of 8.5 million. A mountainous country not much bigger then Munster, some six million people try to exist on less than $2 a day, with unemployment and illiteracy rates at over 50 per cent. A charity called Haven sends volunteers to Haiti to build much needed homes. and next month Cong native Ben Wrafter will travel to Haiti for a building project as part of a group of 250 volunteers. A benefit gig will be held on Saturday to help Wrafter raise funds for Haven. The gig will feature local musicians Greg Cotter and friends, Dave Cazabon, and Soundhorse.
