Galway actor scoops Edinburgh Fringe award

The Galway based actor, writer, and musician Aindrias de Staic has won a ThreeWeeks Editors’ Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for his new show The Year I Did The Leaving.

The ThreeWeeks Editors Awards go to the 10 events that are felt to have made the festival extra special in any one year. In its verdict the ThreeWeeks Editors said: “For mixing it up, keeping us entertained, and being bonkersly brilliant, we thought Aindrias De Staic deserved one of our Editors’ Awards.”

A witty combination of music and spoken word, The Year I Did The Leaving enjoyed good audiences and positive reviews in Edinburgh. David Pollock gave it a glowing review in The Scotsman while the One4Review gave it four stars.

Aindrias won the Sweet Award in 2007 for his show Around the World On 80 Quid and was nominated for a Malcolm Hardy last year for The Year I Got Younger. He has also won awards in Australia and New Zealand for his work.
