San Francisco Bay area artists at 126

MYTHOLOGIES, THE work of seven emerging contemporary San Francisco Bay area artists will be on display at 126, the artist-run gallery on Queen Street until September 19.

126 presents the San Francisco Bay area artists as part of an exchange exhibition with Blankspace Gallery in Oakland, California. Each exhibiting artist created works that deal with personal, historical and modern mythologies, some which are quintessentially American, others more universal. Works include video, installation, sculpture, works on paper, painting, and ceramics. The artists featured are: Gina Tuzzi, Samara Halperin, Brian Caraway, Lena Reynoso, Crystal Morey, Sam Lopes, and Renée Gertler.

Both galleries share similar missions and goals when it comes to producing exhibitions; 126 and Blankspace are both artist-run exhibition spaces that promote strong conceptual approaches and experimentation in art making.

126 was established in 2006 by local artists in their own living rooms as a response to the need for more non-commercial gallery spaces in Galway.
