Forget Playstations as Console offers traditional family day out in Ross Castle

Take a trip back in time to when you were a child growing up, there were no mobile phones, no playstations, and not a whole lot of money, so what did you do for fun?

Well, this Sunday, Ross Castle, located close to the village of Oughterard, will host the Console Traditional Family Day Out from 2pm to 5pm.

Margaret Tierney from Console said: “It is an ideal opportunity for parents to teach children the games their parents and grandparents played.

“Activities will include sack races, marbles, skipping, hoola hoop, egg and spoon races, football, tag, three legged races, red light, bumpers, and many more.” There will also be story telling in the castle.

“Also present on the day will be face painters, balloon modellers, and a bouncing castle,” she said. Admission is €5 per car which covers parking or €5 for two adults and two children. Donald Duck, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and Bugs Bunny are also expected to attend.

The event is in aid of Console and has been generously sponsored by Boston Scientific
