The programme launch for the 2009 Galway Americana Festival will take place tomorrow at 6.30pm at The Crane Bar, Sea Road, with music provided by Nashville-based duo The Jeff and Vida Band.
The festival is a celebration of root and branch American folk music forms and the close kinship they share with Celtic and Irish music. The roots of music such as country/alt country, bluegrass, folk, Cajun, old-time, rhythm and blues, rockabilly and jazz come from Americanized versions of songs from Irish, Scottish, Scots-Irish, and other European traditions.
Galway Americana Festival is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
