The global Twitter-based charity event has a Galway dimension next month following the success of the first global Twestival on February 12 2009.
The Galway event will take place on September 10 at The House Hotel raising funds for GSPCA who are in need of a cattery to house their cats and kittens.
The first 24 hour ‘tweet-up’ inspired thousands of people and raised $250,000 for clean water charity, charity:water, and the next event Twestival Local, looks to be even bigger. Twestival Local gives every city in the world the chance to hold its own Twestival, but this time events can be run any time between September 10 and 13 involving local charities.
Volunteer teams in Galway and cities across the world are now coming together to survey their communities, nominate causes, plan events, gather sponsors, and raise funds.
Galway Twestival organiser Ina O Murchu said, “We’re so excited about the next Twestival in Galway and working with our great team of volunteers and sponsors to raise funds for the GSPCA. We’re hoping to see lots of Galway Twitter users coming along to have an amazing time with us and generate lots of cash and awareness”.
