The g hotel has done it again. The luxurious five star hotel has been chosen by the Travel & Leisure World’s Best Awards as its only Irish hotel and ranked it 12th in the most popular ‘Large City Hotels in Europe’.
Scoring a remarkable 87 on a scale of 100, the g hotel was the only Irish property selected in the entire category and was highly commended for its unique interior design, quirky style, and eclectic selection of art, along with the excellent value rates available for 2009.
The calibre of properties was immensely high with the g standing alongside the Grand Hotel Baglioni, Bologna, Ceylan InterContinental, Istanbul, The Ritz in Paris, and the Westin Palace in Milan. The is not the first Travel & Leisure Award the g has received, in 2007 it was given the Design Award for Best Large Hotel.
Travel & Leisure invited readers to rate their best and most memorable experiences in hotels across the world in formulating the 14th annual ‘World’s Best Awards’ with the g exclusively flying the flag for hospitality in Ireland.
Designed by famed milliner Philip Treacy, the g has received a selection of highly commendable accolades since Christmas, most notably the acclaimed Condé Nast Gold List 2009, which chose the g as one of the top three hotels in the world for ambience and design. In April the g was bestowed with the prestigious title of ‘Best Connaught Hotel’ at the inaugural Irish Travel Consumer Awards, followed closely by Stefan Matz being awarded “Best Chef in Connaught 2009” at the Santa Rita/Life magazine Irish Restaurants Awards 2009”. Furthermore ESPA at the g therapist Irene Kenning was announced “Best Spa Therapist” at the acclaimed Irish Beauty Professional Association Award 2009.
