Hairs and Races comedy series available online to download

The popular local-based radio comedy series Hairs and Races which was broadcast on Galway Bay fm during Race Week is now available to download on the station’s website.

The series which was written and produced by Bernadette Prendergast and Declan Varley, tells the story of hairdressers Sharon and Brendan, who after years of working for other salons in the city, decide to make a break for themselves and set up the salon at a time when the Celtic Tiger has fled.

The episodes of 15 minutes’ duration star accomplished actors Diarmuid de Faoite, Maire Greaney-Daly, Ionia Ni Chroinin, Ollie Turner, Maire Kavanagh and Ruth O'Driscoll.

The series is one of the first Irish radio drama series produced under the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland's Dramarama scheme, which is part of the Sound and Vision project.

It was broadcast in real time on each day of race week, but for thsoe who missed it, the series is now available to download online at www.galwaybayfm.ie
