Surviving the dinner party from hell

IT’S THE dinner party from hell. The guests are obnoxious and the waiters equally awful, but as you sit in the restaurant, you can enjoy the mayhem.

Galway theatre company Catastrophe return for this year’s Galway Arts Festival with Penguins by Josh Tobiessen. It is currently running in Tara Restaurant, Dominick Street, up to, and including Saturday July 26 at 5pm.

Penguins follows the activities of three waiters over the course of an evening. The guests are pompous and rude, the staff are mercenary and crude, but at least the flower arrangements are lovely.

The waiters all have their own not so hidden agendas which threaten to put cracks in the evening’s elegant façade. Mischief turns to mayhem and the party slowly spins out of control amid loyalty, revenge, and dodgy salads.

The director is Paul Hayes. The cast is Duncan Lacroix, Patrick O’Donnell, Caroline Power, and Judith Sibley.

There is no show on Sunday. For tickets contact Tara restaurant on 091 - 568700.
