The Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust supports patients and families coping with this cancer of the blood cells as well as research into the condition. The organisation is raising funds for a new purpose built facility close to University Hospital Galway. (It already owns two apartments close to the hospital which are used by patients receiving chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation and their families. )

“The new facility will accommodate up to 10 families as requirement for transplantation increases with the development of new technologies,” explains a spokesperson. “The Trust has been successful because of the dedication of its staff and trustees and because of the tremendous financial support given by Irish people since the early 1980s.

“With this in mind Mike Denver and his band have taken time out from their very busy diary to perform what promises to be a very enjoyable evening of dancing at the Clayton Hotel.”
