Brigit’s Garden celebrates Heritage Week

Something special is stirring at Brigit’s Garden. The trees are whispering that the Fairy Queen is on her way to sprinkle late summer magic over the Celtic-themed gardens on Sunday, August 23.

Young elves and fairies are invited to dress up and join her for an afternoon of delight as she brings her stories alive in the thatched Roundhouse, and joins a ‘Little People’s’ parade throughout the gardens with musicians and drummers. Children and their families will find gold at the end of the rainbow on a treasure hunt, and be charmed by other magical fairy activities like crown-making, face-painting, circle dancing and live music.

There are many prizes to be won throughout the afternoon for children who come in costume. The fun starts at 2pm and continues until 5.30pm, come rain or shine. Admission to Elves & Fairies Day is €7.00 per child or €28 for a family with three children.

The Elves & Fairies Day is part of the summer family programme at Brigit's Garden and a fund-raiser for the project, which is an educational charity.

The summer activities also include the popular Music in the Gardens series on Sunday afternoons, which continues until the end of August, as well as the Outside: Insight Sculpture in the Gardens 2009 exhibition that runs until September 14. Both are available for visitors at no extra charge.
