Discover tales of explorers around the world at Kinvara Adventure Talks

Kinvara Adventure Talks, the series which brings stories of grand adventures from around the world to Tully’s bar in Kinvara every November, is set to begin its 12th year of talks next week.

This year promises to be an exciting one with a range of adventurers gathering to share their stories.

Jack Byrne, the first speaker of this year’s series, will be in Tully’s on Wednesday, November 4, to speak about his thru-hike along New Zealand’s Te Araroa trail, hiking from hut to hut without even a rain jacket.

Daragh Morgan recently became the first person to swim the entire coastline of Ireland; he will be speaking about his challenges, which included extended durations in seawater and its impact on the body and mind, logistics with weather, and support crew, along with the important life lessons he gained along the way.

Jim and Maria Kennedy will share their extensive kayak adventures from locations around the world, including Greenland and Mexico. Kayaking is only part of their story. The cultures, the adults and children, and the various cuisines they encountered along the way all make for really impactful tales.

On the final Wednesday, Gerhard Terpelle will recount a journey he made from Johannesburg to Kaukamas in the eighties. He will share stories and life lessons he gained when he travelled, unprepared, to South Africa to deal with personal challenges and leave Europe for the first time.

Talks take place every Wednesday in November at 8pm.
