Helplink continues to support Galway as Coldtober appeal enters final days

For 14 years, Helplink has been supporting the mental health of children, young people and adults across Galway and Mayo, providing face-to-face counselling locally and online support nationwide.

The charity offers a range of services, including general counselling, youth counselling, play therapy for children aged 3 to 12, art therapy for children and adults, bereavement counselling, addiction counselling and couples counselling. With appointments available seven days a week, Helplink makes professional mental health support accessible and affordable to those who need it.

Appointments are available in Galway and Mayo, with online counselling available nationwide. To find out more or enquire about an appointment, visit www.helplink.ie or call 0818 99 88 80.

Earlier this year, Helplink came close to closing its doors after facing significant financial pressures. Despite more than a decade of supporting local communities, the charity’s experience highlights the challenges faced by community-based mental health services when funding is uncertain.

Now, as Coldtober 2026 enters its final days, Helplink is asking the public to help support its future.

The campaign challenges participants to finish their shower with 10 seconds of cold water or take a cold dip, for as many days as possible in October; raising awareness and funds for our mental health services. There is still time to get involved before the campaign ends on 31 October. Unable to take part? You can donate instead; go to iDonate.ie and search Coldtober or scan the Code!

Every contribution helps Helplink continue its work supporting people and families who may be experiencing difficult times.

Helplink would like to thank everyone who has supported Coldtober, including its main sponsor, Unirefund, and encourages the public to get behind the campaign in its final days.

To donate, visit www.idonate.ie and search for Coldtober 2026.

Help us to continue to support you and your community.
