Gardaí calm situation after 999 call disconnected

OVERHEARD shouting in the background before a 999 call was disconnected alerted Tuam Gardaí to what they considered may have been an ongoing serious dispute.

As a result, Gardaí followed up the call and made a welfare check to a home in Parkmore on May 1 last, Judge James Faughnan was informed at Tuam District Court.

The Judge heard Garda evidence of shouting being heard in the background of a 999 call and they became concerned about the situation.

When they arrived they found Brian Ward, 28 Parkmore in an agitated state. He told them the issue was that he didn’t want certain individuals around his house. Gardaí managed to calm the situation at the time.

Bail conditions were set, including that Ward reside at Goldcave Crescent and stay away from a certain address in Parkmore. He is also to sign on three times a week at Tuam Garda Station and have no contact with any of the witnesses. A curfew from 10pm until 6am was also imposed.

Matters were adjourned until January 26 next.
