Network Ireland Galway brings women in STEM, local employers and Transition Year students together at Dexcom Stadium on Friday, 13 November, as part of National Science Week.

Network Ireland Galway will host Women Shaping the Future in STEM at Dexcom Stadium on Friday, 13 November 2026, in partnership with Galway Science & Technology Festival as part of National Science Week. Sponsored by Dexcom, with support from Alliance Medical, Merit Medical and AIB, the event will connect women in STEM, local employers and the next generation of talent.

Sharon Kelly, President of Network Ireland Galway, said the event was inspired by her engagement with Galway’s thriving medtech, technology, science and engineering community.

“Galway has such a strong and innovative STEM community, and I wanted to create a platform where businesses could showcase what they do while inspiring the next generation.”

Registration opens at 8am, with the event commencing at 9am. The morning will feature employer exhibitions, panel discussions exploring career journeys and innovation across STEM, and a keynote address from Evelyn O’Toole, Founder and CEO of Complete Laboratory Solutions (CLS ).

From 11am, more than 150 Transition Year students will attend the Girls in STEM Showcase. Women working in industry, research and healthcare will share their experiences, explore diverse pathways into STEM careers and demonstrate how early interests can develop into rewarding professions. An interactive session on artificial intelligence will also feature.

Anne Murray, Festival Manager at Galway Science & Technology Festival, said: “By connecting students with inspiring women working across STEM industries, we can help break down stereotypes, build confidence and open their minds to opportunities they may never have considered.”

Sharon added: “As a mum of five, I’m particularly passionate about encouraging girls to consider STEM careers. Sometimes it’s simply about meeting a role model and realising, ‘Actually, I could do that.’ This event is about opening young people’s eyes to the possibilities.”

Organisers also welcome exhibitors, who will have an opportunity to introduce their organisations through a “Minute on the Mic”. Exhibition stands cost €250 per company and are limited, with allocation on a first-come, first-served basis. The event concludes at 1pm, with refreshments and networking.

Tickets: €15 for Network Ireland members and €30 for non-members. Book at networkireland.ie or email [email protected].
