Fine for plumber who turned back from Garda checkpoint

A plumber who came to Garda attention when he turned away from a checkpoint was fined when he appeared before Tuam District Court.

Adam Harris, Windfort, Headford, was followed by Garda Michelle Hallinan after he tried to evade the checkpoint and stopped.

When checking his details, she discovered his Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness (CVR ) certification had been out since 2022.

Eric Gleeson, solicitor (defending ), said his client was 42, a plumber and originally from Australia. He wasn’t fully aware of his obligations when it came to his work vehicle, as they differed from what they are in his home country.

Judge James Faughnan imposed a fine of €100.
