Community choirs connect with Crash Ensemble

City and Gort venues host choral innovation

Music for Galway’s season ‘Breaking Boundaries’ continues with a bold, new large-scale project by acclaimed Irish composer Ed Bennett.

Commissioned by Crash Ensemble, Everything Is Connected, is an ambitious work which places collaboration, community, and shared experience centre-stage, bringing Crash together with local musicians, choirs, and performers.

Taking place in Galway and Gort on October 17 and 18 respectively, the concerts will feature singing groups from Ballybane, Westside and Ballinfoile, the Ukrainian choir Harmony and, joining from Gort, Voices in Unity ‘One Town One Voice’. The concerts will take place at 5pm in St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Galway, and in Sullivan’s Royal Hotel, Gort, where the concert will be opened by the Coole Music Youth Orchestra.

Described by The Guardian as creating “unclassifiable, raw-nerve music of huge energy and imagination”, Bennett is one of Ireland’s most distinctive contemporary composers. With Everything Is Connected, Crash continues its commitment to reimagining contemporary music as a shared, inclusive experience.

The support of Aerogen and the Lifes2Good Foundation has made it possible for Music for Galway to get everyone to connect for this project. The Galway City Partnership along with Galway City Healthy Ireland, the GRETB and Sullivan’s Hotel in Gort have provided further glue.

This is an opportunity to attend and become part of an expression of this beautiful, new and ever-changing work.

Tickets range from solidarity ticket prices of €7.50 to standard €15 in Gort, and from €10 to €20 in Galway from www.musicforgalway.ie

Music for Galway and Crash Ensemble gratefully acknowledges support from the Arts Council.
