Food for Thought: feeding Galway for 44 years

Family run cafe Food for Thought has been part of the Galway scene for the past four decades, providing a traditional, cosy haven for locals and visitors alike.

Today, the award-winning cafe serves a loyal customer base quality, healthy homemade food, made on the premises daily using only fresh, local ingredients.

The customer focus is at the heart of the business, with a friendly and courteous staff front and centre to serve Galwegians. Owner Ken Walsh makes an effort to ensure that their nutritious food is great value for money and reasonably priced, providing customers a reliable local spot to relax.

Ken’s family has been in the business of serving good food to Galway for much longer, with roots going back to a bakery they ran in Eyre Square since 1885.

And the business really does run in the family. Ken’s daughter, Aoife, has worked to develop the coffee range offered over the last four years. Whether it’s a regular coffee, a Flat White, an Iced Matcha, an Oat Latte with Caramel or a Skinny Cappuccino with no chocolate on top, Aoife has customers covered.

Visit Food for Thought in Galway for a respite on Abbeygate Street Lower. Open 8am to 5pmn Monday to Saturday, Sunday 12pm to 4pm.
