A MAN who is alleged to have threatened to torture a neighbour and cause grievous bodily harm to him had his case adjourned until November 11 when he appeared before Galway District Court on harassment charges.
Gary McConn, 14 Cúirt na hAbhain, Liosbán is alleged to have threatened his neighbour, via text messages, to torture him and “cut his eye sockets” Judge Tom McSharry was told.
Prosecuting Garda Sgt Damien Prendergast told the Court that Gardaí received an urgent call from the alleged victim in the early hours of June 21 last who was alarmed over text threats it is alleged he received from the defendant.
Judge McSharry was told that both lived in the same apartment complex.
He accepted jurisdiction and adjourned the case until the November date when McConn will be given the option of pleading guilty or seeking a date for the case to be contested.
He added that the Gardaí should seek a victim impact statement and remanded the defendant on bail.
