The community writing group’s 2027 Write-on Anthology and The Boy in the Bed by Frank Fahy, will be launched at the Clybaun Hotel on Friday, September 18, at 3pm.
Drawing on Fahy’s childhood experience of illness, The Boy in the Bed explores a youngster’s world during a prolonged confinement and its effect on family life. Write-on Anthology 2027 brings together poetry, prose and short stories by members of the group.
Founded in 2017, Write-on has grown from four members to over thirty. The founders met on a creative writing course at Westside Resource Centre and, when it ended, decided to ‘write on’.
Today, the group’s two-hour weekly Zoom meetings bring together writers from across Ireland, Britain, the USA, Australia, Germany and Portugal. Members read their work and exchange comments in a supportive, encouraging setting.
Write-on is a self-funding, not-for-profit writing community. Members support one another through writing, editing and self-publishing, producing annual anthologies and individual books, with further publications in preparation.
“Writing can be a lonely business,” says chairperson Frank Fahy. “Write-on gives people a place to share their work, develop it and see it through to publication. We learn from one another, and everyone has something to contribute.’
The launch will include readings, signings and refreshments. All welcome.
