Energy conservation and renewable energy technology training for Gaeltacht companies and tradespeople

Údarás na Gaeltachta are pleased to announce that the ‘Glasoiliúint’ scheme is now open for applications. The scheme is designed for Gaeltacht companies or tradespeople who wish to upskill in energy conservation or renewable energy technologies.

Up to 75% of tuition fees and travel costs will be covered for accredited courses under the scheme up to the value of €2000. The aim of this scheme is to provide additional training for professionals who seek to upskill in the renewable energy sector as part of their work.

The importance of adressing the problem of climate change, through reducing carbon footprint, among other measures, is widely recognised. Údarás na Gaeltachta has also identified ‘An Ghaeltacht Ghlas’ as a key opportunity to create further employment and economic development in the Gaeltacht.

There are many opportunities in this sector including:

Solar Panel Installation

Wind Turbine Technician

Energy Analyst

Environmental Consultant

Heat Pump Installation and Maintenance

“Over the last number of years, we have seen increasing demand for practical skills to put ‘green’ infrastructure in place. We want to ensure that those living in the Gaeltacht have access to these valubale skills, to allow them to capitalise on the opporunties that this new industry presents.” said Aisling Nic Aoidh, Training and Education Officer with Údarás na Gaeltachta.

Applicants may select their own course, not limited to the list above. The applicant must reside in the Gaeltacht and select an accredited course. The grant will be paid under ‘de minimis’ guidelines. Email [email protected] for more information.
