Cannabis and weight loss products worth €70,000 seized in Garda raid on Claregalway home

Gardaí recovered more than €60,000 worth of vape oil and jellies containing suspected illegal cannabinoids during a search of a house in Claregalway earlier this week.

A search of the house was carried out by Galway Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue, on Monday, August 17.

A number of suspected cannabinoids (THC, HHC and HHCP ) were seized during the search along with nine litres of oil (for use in cannabis vapes ), with an estimated street value of €45,000.

Several other items were seized in follow-up searches by the Drugs Unit – namely a quantity of suspected cannabis edibles, with a street value of €17,600, and a quantity of a suspected counterfeit weight loss product with an estimated street value of €10,000.

An Garda said in a statement today that no arrests have been made at this time.

The suspected cannabis edibles and cannabis oil will be sent Forensic Science Ireland for analysis and further enquiries will be carried out with the Health Products Regulatory Authority.

Investigations are ongoing.
