Sparkcatchers! in Tuam have been awarded a total of €24,280 through the Arts Council’s Youth Ensembles Scheme.
Founded by artists Jojo Hynes and Midie Corcoran, Sparkcatchers! is a collaborative, socially engaged initiative seeking spontaneity, fun, truth and positive disruption in public spaces and everyday places. Based in Tuam, it works with with youth, communities, schools and other organisations to provide arts workshops and events across Ireland.
The Arts Council’s Youth Ensembles Scheme supports groups of young people between the ages of ten and twenty-four. It focuses on providing them with the resources to create or critically engage with ambitious and original work across any artform.
This year, a total of €246,439 has been awarded to 13 groups across Ireland through the Youth Ensemble Scheme.
