The Fit House in Oranmore has spent close to a decade shaping champions. And at the centre of it all is founder Neil Moynihan, a man whose coaching CV reads like a roll call of Irish sport's biggest occasions.
The Fit House has played an integral role arming the Galway senior ladies' football and camogie teams with the physical armoury that has proved pivotal to their on-pitch success. He currently serves as strength and conditioning coach with this year's All-Ireland champions, the Galway Senior Ladies Football team. They have enjoyed a remarkable run under his strength and conditioning guidance; All-Ireland champions and Connacht champions in 2026, an All-Ireland semi-final and Connacht title in 2025, and an All-Ireland final appearance in 2024.
He holds the same role with the Galway Senior Camogie panel, where the honours have followed a similar pattern. All-Ireland champions and Division 1 League finalists in 2025, followed by an All-Ireland final appearance and Division 1 League title in 2026.
This level of sustained success is a testament to the physical foundation Neil has helped build behind the scenes. It also highlights the power of players, management, and board working in tandem toward a shared objective.
His knowledge extends to the sidelines. At college level, he guided GMIT's men's intermediate side to All-Ireland glory, while also steering NUIG Ladies to a Donaghy Cup a final. At inter-county level, he took charge of Clare LGFA, reaching an All-Ireland Intermediate final and two Munster finals in as many seasons. Along the way, club sides in Leitir Mor and most recently Oranmore/Maree have felt the benefit of his coaching and strength and conditioning expertise too.
Players such as Oranmore/Maree's Rory Burke are long-time members of The Fit House, once again highlighting the pathway from aspiring athlete to the elite level.
It's that blend of tactical nous and physical conditioning know-how that Neil brought home to Oranmore when he founded The Fit House. And the results speak for themselves as the Minor A team finally broke through to become champions in 2022 after a 33-year wait. That victory marked the culmination of an eight-year journey that ran from U12 champions in 2017 through to U16 champions in 2021. In 2024, the club added All-Ireland Féile champions to the roll of honour, with the U20s following up as champions in 2025.
