Students’ Union invite applications for annual charity fund

University of Galway Students’ Union is opening the application process for charities wishing to be considered as beneficiaries for its 2026/27 fundraising campaign.

Last year students ran a series of fundraising events during Raise and Give (RAG ) Week, including a Christmas Raffle, Sex Toy Bingo, head shaves, dunk tanks, and table quizzes, raising €27,000 for Galway Rape Crisis Centre and GOAL.

Students’ Union President Seán de Búrca says, “Despite the continued cost of living crisis and daily challenges we all face, University of Galway students have a very proud tradition of raising money for charities.

“This year we hope to raise even more money for good causes with our charity events, including RAG Week, which will encourage students to get involved in and support their community whilst also having fun and meeting new people.”

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, August 26, at 5pm. Please note that any canvassing will automatically disqualify the charity from the selection.

Application forms for the fund are available on the Students’ Union website www.su.universityofgalway.ie
