Oughterard crowned All-Ireland 7s champions

The All-Ireland Intermediate Club 7's champions, Oughterard LGFA.

Oughterard LGFA claimed the O'Neills All-Ireland Intermediate Club 7s title last weekend.

The Galway club overcame Glen Emmets of Louth in an epic final by 8-8 to 5-9 after extra-time. Oughterard goals came via Maeve Walsh, Martha Bank, Ailish Keogh, Clara Banik and Rosie McCauley.

Hosted at Naomh Mearnóg GAA Club in Dublin, Oughterard were grouped with Carbury from Kildare, Dublin's St Brigid's, and Shanahoe of Laois. They won all three to top the group and set up a semi-final clash with Clann Mhuire.

In that semi-final, they annihilated their Dublin opposition by 6-6 to 1-8 to put them within touching distance of the title. They were crowned All-Ireland Intermediate Club 7's champions after extra time against Glen Emmets.

The Senior Final went to St Sylvester’s of Dublin who beat Tyrone outfit Killeeshil in the final by 5-2 to 0-2.

In the Senior Shield final, Timahoe from Laois got the better of Monaghan’s Donaghmoyne in a thriller, 5-7 to 5-6, the Intermediate Shield final was won by Offaly’s St Manchan’s, who overcame Walterstown in the decider by 3-10 to 1-14.

Junior Cup honours went to Kildare outfit Milltown, who defeated St Brigid’s of Limerick by 4-9 to 4-3 and the Shield went the way of hosts Naomh Mearnóg, who defeated St Tiarnach’s Clones (Monaghan ) 8-8 to 3-10 after extra time.
