Much travelled songwriter comes to Galway

INDIE-POP singer-songwriter Jann Klose is something of a ‘citizen of the world’ having spent much of his life travelling through Europe, Africa, and the US. He is now coming to Ireland.

Klose was born in Mannheim, Germany, raised in Nairobi, Kenya and Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent his teenage years in Hamburg, before going to Cleveland, Ohio as an exchange student.

He returned to Germany to fulfil mandatory civil service, before relocating to Ohio, where he studied voice with Emmy winner David Gooding, sang in the Cleveland Opera Chorus, and in the late 1990s released two albums.

Since 2000 Klose has been based in New York where he has performed in a number of musicals on Broadway. His latest album Reverie has been receiving positive reviews from US critics. The Washington Post said: “Klose wins over the listener with his soaring voice, which may well be a staple of chamber pop for a long time to come.”

Check him out when he plays the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday at 9pm. See www.roisindubh.net and www.myspace.com/jannklose
