Originally written during Galway’s memorable 2017 championship campaign, the song has been completely re-recorded, with updated lyrics and contemporary production, reflecting the excitement and optimism surrounding this year’s final.

Recorded at Songcraft Studios in Garrafrauns, the release is accompanied by a new music video showcasing the people, places and landscapes of Galway city and county.

Brown said the project came together immediately after Galway secured their place in the final.

“It’s been all go since Galway beat Cork in the semi-final to reach the All-Ireland Final. I was actually away in Kerry watching the match. As soon as the final whistle blew, I rang my producer and booked the studio for Monday morning. There was a real sense that the song needed to come back for this special occasion.”

The new version has been produced by Axel Grude and aims to capture the pride, passion and community spirit that surrounds Galway’s latest All-Ireland bid.

Former Galway goalkeeper and documentary maker Pat Comer, creator of A Year ‘Til Sunday, praised the song. “Janey, I can’t help myself jivin’ around the kitchen, good man Mick.”

‘Gaillimh Abú’ is Brown’s first release since his critically acclaimed 2024 EP, which received extensive airplay across Ireland, Britain and internationally. Since then, he has continued performing throughout Ireland while further developing his song-writing and production, including taking part in a 2025–2026 mentorship with Canadian producer Charles Cleyn.

The single is available now on all major digital streaming platforms and Mick Brown’s social media platforms.
