Afternoon Tea in the City: a fresh twist on tradition at The Galmont Hotel, Galway

The Galmont Hotel’s popular Afternoon Tea in the City has returned for the summer, offering a chic, contemporary take on a timeless tradition in one of Galway’s most scenic city-centre settings.

Served in the bright and stylish surroundings of Coopers Lounge, with panoramic views across Lough Atalia, this is afternoon tea designed for long-overdue catch-ups with friends, group celebrations, or simply an excuse to slow down and treat yourself to some indulgence.

Guests can settle into the light-filled lounge and choose from a selection of premium loose-leaf teas and herbal infusions from around the world. Those looking to add something extra to the occasion can opt for a chilled glass of Prosecco or the fresh twist of one of The Galmont’s expertly crafted cocktails.

The menu, created by executive head chef Adrian Bane and his talented team, showcases quality local ingredients alongside contemporary flavours. Savoury highlights include Galway Bay smoked salmon with pickled cucumber and herby mayonnaise on soda bread, creamy Ardsallagh goat’s cheese with roasted butternut squash and hazelnut on toasted brioche, classic egg and watercress finger sandwiches, and baked ham and Cheddar cheese with smoked onion mayonnaise.

Freshly baked scones served with seasonal jam and cream are a traditional must-have, while an elegant selection of handcrafted desserts such as salted caramel cheesecake, dark chocolate and toffee mousse, and lemon meringue tartlets add delightful decadence.

On Saturdays, a live pianist adds to the atmosphere, creating the perfect backdrop for an afternoon spent catching up, celebrating or simply unwinding.

Available from Thursday to Sunday between 2.30pm and 5.30pm, Afternoon Tea in the City is priced at €39 per person, €46 with Prosecco, or €50 with a cocktail.
