Blooming great weekend awaits at Claregalway Castle

The annual Galway Garden Festival returns to Claregalway Castle on July 4 and 5, promising another memorable weekend celebrating gardening, creativity, food, music and family entertainment.

Widely regarded as one of the west of Ireland’s most charming summer events, the festival brings together specialist plant nurseries, expert speakers, artisan producers and talented craftspeople.

Visitors can browse and purchase plants from many of Ireland’s leading nurseries, including Rare Plants Ireland, Mount Venus Nurseries, Boyne Garden and Caherhurley Nursery.

The Galway Garden Flower Club will host its Summer Show alongside floral and horticultural competitions, while members of the Irish Botanic Artists Association will exhibit exceptional botanical artwork.

Nature enthusiasts can also enjoy the Connaught Bonsai Club exhibition, The Art of Living Nature, showcasing the timeless beauty and intricate artistry of miniature trees.

A packed entertainment programme features performances from Yer Man’s Puppets, Fanzini’s Circus and Nemo the Magician, ensuring plenty of excitement for younger visitors throughout the weekend.

Music lovers can look forward to performances by the Silver Moon Quintet, St Patrick’s Brass Band, the Corrib String Quartet and the ever-popular Pocket Jazz Orchestra.

An impressive line-up of guest speakers will also feature throughout the weekend. Among those taking part are filmmaker, author and ecologist Dr Marina Levitina, flower farmer, podcaster and Bloom 2026 winner Catherine Scully, Head Gardener at Glenveagh National Park Sean Ó Gaothaoin, award-winning garden designer and Chelsea Flower Show and Bloom gold medalist Oliver Schurmann, Director of Marsh’s Library Dr Jason McElligott, and historic garden consultant and plantsman Neil Porteous.

Festival-goers can also sample delicious food from vendors including Handsome Burger, Tacos Traviesas and Bartollini Pizza while browsing quality artisan products from Galway’s renowned ‘Made in Galway’ producers.
