The Yoga Picnic celebrates five years of wellness, community and connection

What started as a small outdoor yoga gathering in the heart of the Midlands has blossomed into one of Ireland’s most successful wellness festivals.

This summer, The Yoga Picnic celebrates its fifth anniversary with its biggest and most exciting event yet at the stunning Lilliput House on the shores of Lough Ennell, Co. Westmeath.

Founded by Alice Harrison, Mary Gardiner and Katy Harrison, The Yoga Picnic has grown from welcoming just 120 attendees at its first event to attracting more than 2,000 visitors annually from across Ireland, Europe and the United States.

Along the way, it has become an inspiring Irish small business success story, built on a shared passion for wellbeing, community and connection. The festival’s origins are rooted in friendship and a desire to bring people together.

What began as a simple yoga picnic among teachers and students quickly evolved into a much-loved annual event as demand for meaningful wellness experiences continued to grow.

Returning on July 4th, 2026, The Yoga Picnic promises its most ambitious programme to date. More than 100 experiences will be available throughout the day, featuring leading Irish and international facilitators across yoga, movement, mindfulness, therapies, wellness and personal development.

This year’s highlights include internationally renowned yoga teachers Tara Judelle and Dylan Werner travelling from the United States especially for the festival.

Visitors can also enjoy a dedicated reformer Pilates tent for the first time, alongside the exciting new “Cook with Kia Kitchen”, where celebrity chefs including Ciara Turley, better known as The Tummy Fairy, and Alannah Sheehan of Worthfightingfor will host live cooking demonstrations.

As evening falls, the festival atmosphere will continue with a brand-new night-time stage featuring live DJs and entertainment.

The Yoga Picnic has also earned recognition for its commitment to sustainability, working with Kia Ireland to replace traditional diesel generators with electric vehicles to power festival tents, significantly reducing emissions and noise.

Five years on, The Yoga Picnic continues to showcase the very best of Irish wellness while bringing people together in a unique celebration of health, happiness and community.
