The closing date for Leaving Certificate students in Galway to apply for the Naughton Foundation Scholarship scheme is Monday, June 29 at midnight.
Éabha Ní Choisdealbha, formerly of Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin, An Cheathrú Rua, claimed the award for County Galway in 2025 and has since gone on to flourish at third level, studying Engineering at The University of Limerick (UL ). The Naughton Scholarships is a scheme of scholarships established to promote the study of science, technology, engineering or mathematics at third level.
There is one guaranteed scholarship worth up to €25,000 for each participating county, with some counties awarded more than one scholarship. Each Scholarship is worth €6,000 for each year of a student’s three-year or four-year undergraduate degree studying science, engineering, maths or technology in any publicly funded university or third-level institution in Ireland, including Northern Ireland. The school of each winner is also awarded a prize of €1,000 as a contribution to the school’s science facilities, in recognition of its support of these students.
Students are reminded to apply if they are currently attending secondary schools in County Galway and are studying two or more of the following subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, mathematics and applied mathematics.
The 2026 application forms for the Naughton Foundation Scholarship Programme are available for download and can be completed online on the Naughton Foundation website: www.thenaughto nfoundation.com.
