A big top will be erected in Fr Burke Park opposite the Claddagh from Friday, June 12 to June 14.

Best known for their annual Winter Circus in Belfast, which celebrates its 10th year this season, Tumble Circus has built a reputation for creating contemporary Irish circus that blends high-level acrobatics, aerial performance, juggling, comedy and well-orchestrated chaos inside its iconic Big Top tent.

Performed in the round, and featuring an all-human cast, this Galway production promises a live experience packed with aerial stunts, physical comedy, acrobatics and the fast-paced atmosphere that has helped make the show an iconic part of Belfast’s festive calendar.

“Tumble Circus has toured all over Ireland for years through festivals, outdoor events and touring productions, so it feels really exciting to finally bring the Big Top itself to Galway,” says co-founder Tina Segner. “A lot of people may already know us from smaller touring shows, but this is the full-scale experience, with the whole troupe of performers together.”

Founders, Segner and Ken Fanning, recently completed a nationwide tour of their two-person show Won’t Be Told as part of the Bealtaine Festival, performing in towns, arts venues and community spaces across Ireland.

“We love performing outdoors and bringing circus into unexpected places,” adds Fanning. “But there’s something special about the Big Top show. It’s bigger, louder, more ambitious and built around the atmosphere that only happens when a full audience is in the tent together.”

Founded in Belfast over 30 years ago, Tumble Circus has toured extensively across Ireland and internationally, performing at festivals, arts events and large-scale public celebrations while continuing to develop original contemporary circus rooted in Irish performance culture.

Showtimes vary from 5pm to 7pm over the weekend, with matinees at 2pm.

Tickets €18, children €15, family ticket €60. Group bookings may be discounted.

This event is made possible with the support of the Blueprint Programme from Arts & Business NI.
