Claddagh Credit Union welcomed Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Robert Troy, to Galway for the first in a series of public consultations on the future of credit unions. The event brought together the Claddagh Credit Union’s community partners, including representatives from the University of Galway, Galway Chamber, Galway International Arts Festival, Galway City Council, Galway Energy Co-operative, and Moycullen GAA.

This consultation marked a significant step in shaping a forward-looking vision for the Credit Union Sector, reinforcing the vital role credit unions play within communities. The breadth of perspectives highlighted the deep connections Credit Unions have across social, economic, and cultural life, and underscored the importance of a strategy that ensures their continued relevance and impact.

Minister Troy’s participation demonstrated a clear commitment to collaborative policymaking. By engaging directly with Credit Unions and their communities, these discussions help ensure that future strategies are informed, practical, and rooted in the real needs of the communities credit unions serve.
