The Pro Life Campaign is actively encouraging its supporters in Galway West to ‘think pro-life’ before voting in the upcoming by-election. The national based group is drawing attention to Ireland’s “soaring abortion numbers” and the fact that “1 in 6 pregnancies now ends in abortion in this country.”
The PLC describes the latest figures as “truly shocking” and have written to all by-election candidates querying their stance on the issue and whether if elected to the Dáil as a TD they will work with others to reduce the number of abortions taking place and to help “encourage life affirming alternatives.”
Commenting on their involvement in the by-election at present, PLC spokesperson Eilís Mulroy said that at every election, they encourage people to make their voices heard on this issue and to make a point of ‘thinking pro-life’ before they vote.
“Ultimately, there’s no issue more important than the right to life. The massive rise in abortions is of course a major issue of concern for a significant number of voters. We want to see a shift in government policy away from promoting abortion and towards prioritising life-affirming alternatives.
“Our message resonates with a lot of people who really want to know where candidates stand. Before election day, we’re asking supporters to check our website prolifecampaign.ie for up to date information on the positions of the various candidates and parties taking part in the election,” she added.
