A man in his sixties has died following a single vehicle road collision in Newbridge yesterday morning.
The collision occurred at Tyrur, Newbridge, Ballinasloe, at around 9.45am on Wednesday. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his body was removed to the mortuary at Portiuncula Hospital.
No one else was injured in the collision.
The road was closed for technical examination by Forensic Collision investigators.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who were travelling in the area between 9.30am and 9.50am yesterday and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
