No visit to Connemara is complete without a trip to Inishbofin Island, one of the most westerly islands off the Irish coastline. The island offers a spectacular landscape, dynamic weather, and a warm welcome from its inhabitants, making you feel truly at home while surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.
Inishbofin is located just 10 kilometres off the north Connemara coast and is a quick 30-minute ferry ride from the charming fishing village of Cleggan, which is only a few minutes’ drive from Clifden. The ferry service is provided by the fast and comfortable vessel, “The Island Discovery”.
The island itself is a haven of natural beauty, featuring stunning cliff-top walks, picturesque beaches, and a rich variety of rare flora and fauna. During the summer months, ferries to Inishbofin depart from Cleggan three times daily at 11:30am, 2:00pm, and 6:45pm/7:30pm, from Monday to Sunday.
