Set in the vibrant village of Kinvara, just a short stroll from the harbour and along the edge of everyday local life, Kinvara Farmers Market is a much-loved Friday tradition that continues to bring the community together. It is a place where local produce, friendly faces and a strong sense of connection all come together in one lively weekly gathering.

Kinvara Farmers Market remains one of the village’s most loved weekly traditions, bringing together locals, visitors and producers every Friday from March to October on Courthouse Road. Rich in history and community spirit, the market continues to be a vibrant meeting place where fresh produce, local crafts and friendly conversation are always in season.

According to Chairman James Prendergast, the market has deep roots in Kinvara’s life. Markets have been held in the village for centuries, with produce, livestock, and fish once sold in the square. In 2009, a local committee revived the tradition, recognising the need for a dedicated farmers’ market that would support local growers, makers and small businesses.

The first modern market was held in the garden of Johnston’s Hostel before moving to Market Square in 2013, and later to its current home on Courthouse Road. Through every move, one thing has remained unchanged: a commitment to supporting local enterprise, sustainability and community connection.

Today, the market is a lively weekly gathering where up to 20 stalls offer something for everyone. Shoppers can browse fresh vegetables, fish, eggs, artisan breads, coffee, crepes, juice, plants, books, and handcrafted goods, while local musicians often add to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Kinvara Tidy Towns continues to champion the market through its #shoplocalfirst campaign, highlighting the value of supporting nearby producers and making sustainable shopping choices. Buying local not only reduces food miles but also strengthens the local economy and keeps traditional skills thriving.

For many, the market is about more than shopping. It is a place to meet friends, catch up over coffee and enjoy the sense of connection that makes Kinvara so special. That spirit was perfectly embodied by the late Michael Staunton, remembered fondly for keeping the old Friday market alive with his humour, warmth and colourful personality.

Whether you are a regular visitor or discovering it for the first time, Kinvara Farmers Market is the perfect Friday stop along the Wild Atlantic Way, full of flavour, character and community charm.

Kinvara Farmers Market takes place every Friday, from March to October, from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Courthouse Road.
