A 21-year-old with 18 road traffic convictions who is currently off the road now works with his father in the car business, his solicitor told Galway District Court, where he picked up two more traffic convictions, bringing his total to 20.

Evan Ward, Brooklodge Demesne, Ballyglunin came before Judge Valerie Corcoran charged with a speeding offence on September 29 last at Ballyglunin, Tuam. He was detected travelling at 131kph in a 100kph zone.

On May 2 last, Gardaí on patrol found Ward parked illegally on a footpath.

Sean Acton solicitor (defending ) pleaded that his client was 21 and currently off the road on a four-year disqualification. He is working with his father in the car business and is not in receipt of social welfare.

Judge Corcoran imposed a fine of €300 on the speeding charge and €150 on the parking charge, and ordered that his licence number be provided to the court registrar so that penalty points can be imposed.
