‘What Persists’ — new exhibition from Terri Smith inspired by forensics

What Persists is a solo exhibition by Galway-based artist, Terri Smith. The work looks at what remains in nature after use, damage, abandonment, or death.

Working in acrylic inks, Terri creates detailed compositions where animals, organic matter, and human-made objects appear as forms of evidence rather than as symbols.

Influenced by her studies in Forensic Science & Analysis at the ATU Dublin Road, her work approaches its subjects through observation and material trace.

The exhibition invites close looking, with meaning emerging gradually through structure, detail, and accumulation rather than narrative.

What Persists runs from 11 – 22 May 2026 at the Galway City Library and is open to the public.
