Swipe right for adventure: ‘Gulliver in Love’ turns queer dating into an epic, interactive odyssey

“In a world of horses, men, and questionable life choices, one adventurer is searching for love”

Galway-based theatre artist Raphaël Adams presents his new interactive show "Gulliver in Love" as part of Galway Theatre Festival during the first weekend in May.

"Gulliver in Love" is loosely inspired by the 300th anniversary of Jonathan Swift’s "Gulliver’s Travels" and places Gulliver into the world of modern-day queer dating. Guided by a step-by-step manual on how to truly experience love, Gulliver embarks on an epic journey through a surreal nightclub where only the best queers make it to the top. To get there, Gulliver must pass through the holy trinity of gay manhood: community, pleasure, and grief.

Gulliver in Love is a satirical participatory performance that places audiences at the centre of this dating odyssey. Framed as a social experiment, this piece asks what connection looks like in a world shaped by prescribed social scripts, digital loneliness, and sanitised queerness. Ultimately, can you help Gulliver find love?

Gulliver in Love will be presented in the Mick Lally Theatre as part of the Galway Theatre Festival on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at 8pm.
