Skoda has introduced a new 200kW plug-in hybrid powertrain to the Superb hatchback variant.

The new Superb hatch joins the Superb Combi, which already offers plug-in hybrid technology, further strengthening the model's electrified line-up. With a total system output of 200kW, it also becomes the most powerful combustion-engine version in the current Superb range.

The existing 150kW plug-in hybrid powertrain will continue to be offered in the Superb Combi. For the Superb hatch, the new 200kW plug-in hybrid variant will now be the sole plug-in hybrid option.

The Superb hatch PHEV sees the addition of dynamic chassis control as standard and improved braking via larger ventilated rear brake discs with improved front brake cooling.

The new powertrain combines a 1.5 TSI petrol engine producing 130kW with an 85kW electric motor and a 25.7kWh (gross ) traction battery. It offers a claimed electric only range of up to 140km and has 11kW AC charging and 50kW DC charging.

The Superb hatch PHEV has a starting price from €50,685 excluding delivery and related charges.
